What's All This About CatholicMatch Live?

In June 2016, my wife and I connected here on CatholicMatch.

Six months later we were engaged, and eight months after that we were married.

To make our long-distance courtship successful, we had to be intentional. We had to deliberately choose to put our growing relationship ahead of other things in our individual and–eventually–converging lives.

But, intentionality is not easy today.

Two thousand years ago, Jesus elevated marriage to a sacrament. Humanity was reminded to be fruitful and multiply. But today, social and gender standards are completely amorphous and relative. Many Catholics have no idea how to pursue monogamous, lifelong marriage.

Women are left wondering why men won’t ask them out, and men are left unwilling to risk social awkwardness by asking out women in their social circles.

If any of this describes you, you’re in luck!

On May 19, CatholicMatch Social Media Marketing Manager Cecilia Pappas and I will tackle these and other issues as part of the first-ever live CatholicMatch Live. We will delve into how men can deliberately and respectfully pursue, and how women can safely but deliberately make themselves available for dating.

This CatholicMatch Live–sign up here!–will also tackle the next challenge of dating: how to handle rejection. Many men fear being turned down because they wonder what it says about them. Knowing this, many women are not straightforward with men if uninterested in dating.

What many women don’t know is that by turning men down for dates, they are facilitating greater communication between the sexes!

Finally, Cecilia and I will help the audience realize their untold potential in pursuing a potential spouse.

This class is for men and women.

While most Catholic women don’t want to do the asking, they can set themselves up for dating success by giving the man an opportunity to be interested and to ask them out. They can host social events and invite the guy of their dreams, casually say hello…or even send an initial message here on CatholicMatch.

This gives the guy a chance to know that you may be open to his respectful pursuit. It also puts you in front of the guy in a direct fashion.

This doesn’t excuse men from taking action! Let a woman know of your interest even if you’re self-conscious. The riskiest thing you can do is not ask. If she says no and you handle it well, she’ll tell all her friends. Your social status will rise, and she will feel honored by your interest.

If you don’t ask, you’ll never know. Perhaps that’s your spouse you walk by each week at church, Bible study or Theology on Tap.

Come by at 9 p.m. Eastern on May 19 to watch Cecilia and me address these and other challenges which face dating Catholics in the modern world. Tell your friends, and then use the live class to help you begin pairing off instead of just “hanging out.” Click here to sign up.

Frequently Asked Questions:

What's a live class?

A live class is an interactive class that takes place online. The presenters will be on video and the attendees will be able to ask questions and comment using a chat box. How it works is you sign up to save your spot and then click the link to join the class room online when the class starts. You will see the presenters, but you will not be one video. You just watch from the comfort of your own home.

Who is invited?

Premium members of CatholicMatch are invited to this class for free. Become a premium member by signing up here.
