From Member To Alum: Advocating For CatholicMatch

3

I unofficially made the transition from CatholicMatch member to CatholicMatch alum last week when my boyfriend’s younger brother, Peter, sent me this simple text:

“So I’m going to need your help. I’m getting on CatholicMatch.”

My heart smiled as I thought back to the beginning of my own journey on CatholicMatch, which quickly led to my boyfriend, George. It was only months ago that I was crafting my own profile, and now his brother is asking for my advice, hoping that I can help him choose the right words and identify the perfect picture for his newly created profile.

I was honored to read in his opening paragraph that Peter, now known as Peter-849795, mentioned the fact that George and I met on CatholicMatch, which, he says, gives him renewed hope in a faith-based approach to online dating. While I joined CatholicMatch without knowing any other CatholicMatch members or even knowing members of other online dating sites, many CatholicMatchers end up with profiles after seeing siblings, cousins and friends develop deep and lasting relationships on this site.

Fellow CatholicMatch blogger Dan Flaherty recently profiled a newly-married CatholicMatch couple, Sean and Mary, whose meeting on CatholicMatch led to numerous other relationships forming, including Sean’s brother Shea, a vocal skeptic of online dating, who later met his wife on this site.

I believe that God works through each of us in ways we cannot even begin to comprehend, and I can only imagine what minds have been changed and what hearts have been opened by each of us building a CatholicMatch profile and handing over our fears and insecurities in such a visible way.

I know my fellow CatholicMatch ladies will warmly welcome Peter, a strong and faithful Catholic cut from the same fabric as his older brother, to the unpredictable world of online dating, and I hope that the friends and family members of all CatholicMatch members come to realize what all us members know to be true.

This site works.

Just ask George and me.
