Here's Why You Should Let God Take Charge of Your Life

Sometimes I have so much to do that I get easily overwhelmed.

I start to stress and wonder if I’m going to be able to handle it all.

One solution would be to cut back on my commitments. We don’t have to say yes to everything and everyone. But sometimes we just find ourselves in a busy season in life and we have no option but to keep pushing through. That’s when we need to remember we are not alone.

In 1 Corinthians 3:9, Saint Paul says that “we are God’s coworkers.”

Paul is talking about his fellow ministers and how they are trying to cultivate the faith of the Christians he’s writing to. But being a coworker with God applies to other areas of life too. It’s pretty amazing to think about.

God doesn’t call us to take on some task and then just sit back and watch as we try to handle it.

He wants to be involved.

If we ask for his help, he will help us. We work together with God. We are co-laborers with him.

This is true for ministry, as well as relationships and family.

When seeking a mate, the good news is that we are not alone in the universe. We can pray for discernment and wisdom about who to be with. And once we are in a relationship, we can keep seeking God’s guidance. He will keep co-working with us to be faithful and make our relationship the best it can be. Will things be perfect? Of course not. But that’s why we need God’s help.

Remember this when you are feeling overwhelmed, or like the task is too great: You are not alone.

God himself is working with you to bring about his will in your life.

Remembering that God is with me and helping me lightens my burden. And as Romans 8:31 says: If God is for us, who can be against us?

God does not want us to fail and be unhappy. We will have seasons of failure and unhappiness, and somehow God can use those times to help us grow in holiness and health. It’s especially during those times—when we are really struggling—that God wants us to work with him. To seek his assistance. To co-labor with him in the work of healing our lives and our souls.

God is close. Jesus said he would never leave us or forsake us.

Let’s remember that he wants to co-labor with us. Pray to him. Tell him your concerns and troubles, and ask for his guidance, wisdom, and strength. Then you’ll be working together with him in the shaping of your life.

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart, on your own intelligence do not rely; In all your ways be mindful of him, and he will make straight your paths” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

And, you’ll do it together.
