The “Faith, Hope & Love” blog is filled with success stories of couples who took a risk and found love despite distance, divorce and heartache. I read these stories regularly and marvel at how God can work through the complexities of life and bring two people together at the perfect time.
But how did each of us get here in the first place?
I joined CatholicMatch nearly one year ago in an attempt to better understand the online dating world for the purposes of this blog and within days, I began messaging with my boyfriend, George – the one and only person I’ve dated from this site. We discovered we share the same birthday and the same alma mater.
Each of us has a unique story of what brought us to this point, and a recent thread in the “Single Living” forum simply asks, “Why did you join CatholicMatch?” Here is a sample of the answers:
“I felt a sign to be on here, honestly. Back in early 2009, I first heard about it from a guy I was working a retreat with. At the time, he was dating a girl from here. It was maybe one and a half to two years later when I did a free membership, and I started subscribing in October. I was reading a Catholic book, and there was a little postcard size advertisement for CatholicMatch. Shortly after subscribing, I found out that a friend who had recently gotten engaged had met her fiancé on here. I had met him in 2009 while they were dating but had no idea that had met online.
