What's the Difference Between Matching and Searching?

7

There are two main ways to come in contact with people on CatholicMatch.

One way is when we suggest people for you to get in touch with (this is matching). The other way is when you look for people you would like to contact (this is searching). We would recommend trying both ways to find new people. Remember, the more exposure you have, and the more features of the site that you use, the more opportunities you have to meet your future spouse!

Match Results

The members that we commonly refer to as "matches" are sent to you via email and on your match page after you fill out your Match Portrait. These members are selected based on your answers to certain questions. This is just one of the great tools that CatholicMatch offers to help you meet more people.

Hint: If you don't like the matches that you are receiving, you can change your filters by clicking on the "edit" button at the top of your Match Results. Another option is to create Saved Searches.

Search Results

Our Search Tool will give you even more exposure and show you members that you did not see in your Match Results. Unlike with Match Results, Search Results are completely controlled by you and only filter out the members that you have chosen to exclude. You can even create Saved Searches that will update automatically just like your Match results.

What to do now: If you have not already, fill out your Match Portrait and see what results we come up with. Don't like what you see? Try creating some Saved Searches. You are going to want to give both a try!
