CatholicMatch Launches Device-Friendly Website

10

Whether you are looking up a recipe at the grocery store or accessing directions in your car, more people (and that includes Catholics) are using phones and tablets to access the Internet.

The number of active smartphone users around the world has topped 1 billion, according to a global research and consulting firm.

The trend is very clear. People will be using grab and go devices more and more each year.

So what does this mean for a website like CatholicMatch?

Even though we are a small company with only a handful of programmers, we do our best to provide our customers with a “large company” experience.

We have been working hard behind the scenes to make our website as device friendly as possible.

This important development, will give you a quality and consistent experience no matter what device you use to log on to CatholicMatch.com.

Everyone talks about “apps,” but the reality is the cost and complexity of developing and maintaining fully developed apps for iphones, ipads, android phones and tablets, and to a lesser degree blackberry and Microsoft devices is simply not feasible for most small and medium size organizations and even some large ones as well.

There is a place for apps no doubt, but most companies wanting to be more Internet “device friendly” should and will be looking to responsive design more so than app development.

This is exactly the direction CatholicMatch has chosen to go.

We are happy to announce that we have built a new responsive structure for CatholicMatch so that our site is now device agnostic. (No that does not mean we are unsure if our site believes in God.) It means that we really don’t care what device you use: our site will work for you. So if you are an “Apple fanboy” great or if you are an “Android geek,” no problem, and if you have to use a blackberry for work, well you can still use CatholicMatch.

Although our new responsive website will handle 98% of features on devices there are a few that will be needed via an app.

In time we plan to release apps for iOS and Android devices which will provide features like auto-login, notifications and others native to your phone.

But all other features will work via the browser on your device which also means you won’t have to worry about updates and app crashes like some other dating websites.

We pride ourselves on being ahead of the curve so that we can offer our customers the best experience possible.

We will implement the new structure in phases. The first phase is to make sure all the main functionality of the site work on laptops, tablets, and mobile phones.

We look forward to your feedback, so get out your devices and let us know what you enjoy and what you don’t. We will do our best to implement as much of your feedback as we can.

We have provided a message forum thread to all user to provide constructive feedback and report any bugs or problems they might be having. If you would like your feedback addressed by our staff please post in this thread and not in comments. http://www.catholicmatch.com/forums/topics/posts.html?topic_id=189474
