It’s a good thing they both decided to hold on just a bit longer, because Aaron messaged Emily just when she was getting ready to take her break!
She explained the situation to him, and he was so kind and understanding in his response that she thought, “This guy sounds too good to be true!” His reply led to her taking a much shorter dating break than she had anticipated.
She got Covid before they met, and every day Aaron would text her and ask how she was doing, and he often talked with her on the phone for hours to keep her company.
Emily was initially attracted to how patient and understanding Aaron was with her, and she still appreciates his kindness and patience the most, and the fact that he is always looking out for her. Aaron appreciated that Emily kept in contact with him and was willing to meet him, and he also appreciates, now, how kind and thoughtful she is, not only with him, but with everyone.
They spoke for around 3-4 months before finally meeting in person.
They went on their first date in April, 2024. Before the date, Aaron was nervous, as was Emily, who was also anxious but very excited!
For their first date, they went to the beautiful Timber Linn Park in Albany, Oregon. They spent the whole time walking up and down the path, talking and getting to know each other better, and their connection grew stronger with each passing minute. Two hours quickly flew by, filled with easy conversation and laughter.
Emily could tell Aaron was a super sweet guy and that they had a connection, since being with him made her feel so at ease.
They could talk about anything and everything!
Aaron, discovering how very special Emily was, definitely wanted to see her again. Though they still have to navigate the challenges that come with living an hour and a half away from each other, they haven’t let distance impede their love story!
Aaron proposed at Mount Angel Abbey in Oregon. The Abbey has been an especially cherished place for them in their relationship. They were both really happy, excited, and praising God for each other and the beautiful day it was as they prayed and walked around the Abbey together. With prayer and reflection, they sealed their commitment, surrounded by the beauty of nature and the love of family and friends. After they got engaged, Aaron arranged for some friends and family to meet them at the Benedictine Brewery. It was decorated, complete with balloons and, of course, a magnificent cake!
It was a perfect day!
Some of their favorite things to do together are strolling the Abbey grounds and praying at the Abbey, hanging out with their families and friends, hiking, and Dutch Bros runs, and, now their adventures are just beginning!
Their wedding is set to take place on July 24, 2026, and they are both looking forward to married life and seeing each other every day, going to Mass together every Sunday, and raising a beautiful family together.
