Craig and Wenqi Glantz met on CatholicMatch and were married on April 18, 2009. Four days later they were back in their wedding attire, attending a Wednesday morning papal audience in Rome. “Walking down streets of Gianicolo, we were greeted by cheering Italians,” Wenqi recounts. “Even people in a passing bus waved and clapped. It was like being on a movie set!”
Pope Benedict’s audience lasted more than two hours and then he began greeting visitors. “As he approached us he gently reached for our hands, we were overwhelmed with excitement! Papa! Papa! Finally!” Wenqi recalls. “You can really feel the presence of Christ in Pope Benedict. Gentle smiles, blue eyes, a bit of a tanned face and a very soft palm. ‘We are from Philadelphia. I am originally from China!’ I introduced us. ‘You are the hope of China!’
The pope responded with a gentle smile and a grandfather’s loving look in his eyes. Craig reached out his hands and kissed the ring on Benedict’s right hand. A holy kiss indeed!”
The Glantzes live in Philadelphia, Pa., where they work on a husband-wife apostolate building websites for Catholics. They are the proud parents of 5-month-old Lai Lai Maria, who was born on their one-year anniversary.
