I signed up to catholic match in 2004 and Paul's profile was the first I looked at. Thinking he was wonderful but too far away (I am English and Paul is American), I thought no more of it. That was until my birthday when I received an email from him! I was so excited and happy that he had contacted me and we began to build our friendship.
A few months later after many long phone calls we decided not to date anyone else and after 10 months of talking we arranged our first date...in Rome!!! Paul was studying in Italy and I was on pilgrimage with my mother in Rome. It was the most romantic experience of my life and made all those months of being apart worth it.
After that we spent the next two years meeting up every few months getting to know each other better and meeting each other's family and friends. Long distance relationships are hard work but ours was based on trust and love so no matter how hard things were, we knew it was the best thing that had happened to us.
During my visit to the US at Easter time in 2007, Paul took me to North Carolina. It was so beautiful and it was on top of Chimney rock that he proposed to me!
We were married on August 2nd 2008. After the ceremony we celebrated in a castle in Wales and it was the most amazing day of our lives. We now live in England and plan to visit the US regularly. Ours is a true love story and our advice is to pray to Jesus to find your soul mate and be willing to put 100% into your relationship.
