During this Year of Mercy I will be leading a trip to Italy along with CatholicMatch, Oct. 6-16th, 2016 and I want you to come with me!
On this trip you will learn to cook like a pro.
But before you can impress everyone with your foodie skills you must do one thing first.
Let me explain with a story ...
Did you know there is a story in the Bible that combines mercy and food? It is called the Prodigal Son.
We know the story well. The younger son sought a life of pleasures so he took his inheritance and spent it all on cheap thrills that he thought would make him happy. When the money ran out he was alone and starving—drooling over the slop of pigs.
When the son decided to come home to the Father it was because he was hungry. Yes, he was physically hungry, but it was more than that. He was on a search. A search for healing, forgiveness and love.
On this pilgrimage, we too are on a search. A search for God's love in our lives.
How will we find God's love? ... with food!
Learn what the chefs do in Italy
On this Italy pilgrimage we will participate in cooking demonstrations, experience the local markets, discover the Italian food culture—both modern and traditional.
We will meet some amazing Italian chefs who will share all their tips and tricks. You are going to learn some awesome, simple, doable cooking techniques that you can bring home with you. You'll be able to cook for your friends and family and impress people with how much you have learned.
But before you can become a pro, you need to become a student! Do you know what the word student is in Greek? It is derived from the Greek word mathetes, which means pupil. From the Latin discipulus we get the English word, disciple.
Become a food disciple
I invite you to become a food disciple on this pilgrimage. If you are hungry as a student, we have a master—who is God—who will feed you.
I can't wait to experience these cooking lessons with you. With God, we will feed every one of our hungers. Join us!
