"At least she's Catholic!" emailed a close friend who, like so many single Catholic women, has long crushed on Major League Baseball's most eligible bachelor, Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer.
Indeed, it's a sad day for single women throughout the Land of 10,000 Lakes. The 28-year-old All-Star proposed to his girlfriend Maddie Bisanz this past weekend in Florida, reported The Pioneer Press:
"(It's) a place that is special to both of us," Mauer said Sunday from Florida. "We couldn't be happier, and we're both really excited."No wedding date has been set. The couple have been friends for about seven years and have been dating for about 1-1/2 years.
"I was hoping for a yes, and she said yes," Mauer said when he proposed. "I'm getting to marry my best friend."
