Chances are that you’ve already heard about the inspirational couple whose uniquely-captured love story has spread across the world.
Taylor Morris, a 23-year-old Iowa native serving in the Navy in Afghanistan, was badly injured in May by an improvised explosive device (IED). When he returned home to the United States, his high school sweetheart, Danielle Kelly, also 23, was by his side as he adjusted to life without all four of his limbs.
In 22 photos captured by a friend of the couple, viewers can relive their journey from their early dating years to Morris’ lengthy hospital stay to his extensive recovery. Without any words, these photos exude true love and selflessness.
One photo depicts Kelly giving Morris a piggyback ride off a plane, while another shows the couple walking arm and arm down the street with the use of Morris’ prosthetic limbs. A sign with the message “Taylor Morris – Hero – Welcome Home” is visible in the background.
It’s stories like this that transcend the negative messages about love and relationships in our culture. Celebrity breakups and divorce rates frequently make headlines, but the truly moving stories of love at all costs are rarely shared.
I encourage you to view the couple’s recent Today Show interview below. It will renew your faith in the power of love and the hope that exists for each of us.
Thank you to the all the brave Veterans and your service to our country.
