It was June of this year that CatholicMatch shared the story of Tim and Magdalena, a young, faith-filled couple from Pittsburgh who were growing in love and discerning the future. That future is now clear—we're pleased to report that Tim proposed marriage, Magdalena said yes and they have begun pre-Cana classes for a March wedding.
The original member story noted how Tim and Magdalena had come from different ends of the online dating spectrum, at least when it came to their experiences on CatholicMatch. Tim had been a member for more than a year and was starting to lose hope. Magdalena, by contrast, found Tim almost immediately after joining.
Those differences were merely the surface though, and the young couple—Tim is 32, while Magdalena is 27—found common ground in all that was important. They both wanted something more than the quick fixes the secular dating world promised, and they were both committed to the idea of family.
Tim and Magdalena have traveled to her native Poland, to visit her family and as part of the trip they had the opportunity to get to Rome and see Pope Francis at his Wednesday audience. That pilgrimage, earlier this spring, solidified the virtues they saw in each other—not just faith and family, but the ability to have fun as part of a healthy and well-balanced life.
It all set up a moment in September, when Tim took Magdalena to a dinner that offered a beautiful view of the Three Rivers. It was there that he proposed marriage and she accepted.
"Timmy did really good, a wonderful proposal," an excited Magdalena said afterward. Indeed, they both did good. The wedding is set for March 1.
