There's something about the start of a new season, especially one as vibrant as fall, that fills singles with hope. And so, today we welcome autumn and all the beauty and blessings it will bring.
I can't think of a better way to kick off the season than by admiring this original photograph by one of our own, Karen-133138. The 51-year-old from Wisconsin uploaded it to her CatholicMatch profile on Oct. 30, 2005, writing in the caption: "Pennsylvania fall – photo I took on way back from Finger Lakes, NY."
"It was my one-hit wonder," Karen told me. "It is all God's handiwork."
Still, that means she was being attentive, which we can all aspire to be this autumn.
Karen's picture was published in Digital Photographer magazine and also appears in a coffee-table book on American landscapes. Congratulations, Karen!
"I give all the credit to God," she says.
We join her in praying:
Lord, as we welcome a new season, open our eyes to the splendor of your handiwork. Surprise us with your grace.
Send us your photos!
We're using Karen's awesome photo to launch a new feature on the blog, "Picture This," inviting CatholicMatch members to share their best photography. Email your favorite picture to [email protected] using the subject line "Picture This." Attach the photo as a jpg and send a high-res version. In the email, briefly tell us:
- When and where you took the picture
- What camera you used
- How you feel about the picture and if it somehow reflects your experience as a single Catholic. (Do you associate it with a particular Scripture verse or Feast Day? Does it capture some element of your life as a faith-filled person hoping to marry?)
- What feedback you've received on the picture
