When the weather is good and the easiness of summer is in the air, families gather for swim parties, BBQs, and even family vacations. Family is a blessing and a joy to be around, but every family gathering is also an opportunity for stresses and disagreements.
For singles, family gatherings can feel overwhelming and uncomfortable. Little nieces and nephews can be a reminder that we don't have children yet. And aunts or uncles ask the dreaded question, "Why aren't you married yet?"
Robyn Lee, managing editor of the CatholicMatch Institute, shares stories about her own big family and offers tips about navigating family dynamics with grace.
Robyn points out how these awkward exchanges can be reminders that we shouldn't wallow in self-pity. Instead, we should take opportunities to meet other like-minded Catholics. One such opportunity is the National Catholic Singles Conference in San Diego, California in August 2014.
To hear more about family gatherings and how to handle those dreaded questions, listen to Robyn's interview with Matt Swaim on the Son Rise Morning Show (click on the player above).
