Bob and Carol both live very active lifestyles. The 68-year-old man and the 74-year-old woman from Michigan have full lives. Bob exercises both the body and the mind through his regular workouts and reading. Carol has an outgoing style that leads her to look forward to meeting new people and expanding her horizons. Carol still works part-time, while Bob is a retired schoolteacher, who also served his country for more than 20 years in the Army.
Each had been through the loss of a spouse—Carol when her husband passed away, and Bob had gone through a divorce.
Just a few months ago, Bob joined CatholicMatch and he sent and received many expressions of interest.
“One lady really caught my eye,” he said, referring to Carol. “When I wrote to her, she also seemed quite interested and we started sending messages to each other regularly.
The messages went from casual exchanges to much longer messages and later turned into phone conversations. They got to know each other on a deeper level and "we soon realized we had an awful lot in common,” Bob recalled.
The couple’s outgoing personalities made the first date a success and it led them to take turns driving back and forth (more than 100 miles) to see each other. On one of the trips, Carol spoke excitedly about a coming vacation. She was going to England and Scotland. When Bob mentioned that it sounded interesting, she didn’t hesitate. “Why don’t you go with me?”
Bob immediately got on the phone with the touring agency. They made it possible for him to join the trip at the end of this month.
Time will tell what the future holds for Bob and Carol, but the optimistic outlook they both bring to life has them feeling excited for what lies ahead.
