Liv, a 26-year-old from Louisiana, was in a new area attending graduate school in Maryland. She was skeptical of online dating, but wanted to meet new people.
“I took a leap of faith and kept my mind open,” she said. Faith was important to her, so she signed up for CatholicMatch and after a few months she met Paul.
Paul wasn’t the first person Liv had been in contact with on CatholicMatch, but she felt the strongest connection to him.
“After a few weeks of online chatting he eventually asked me out on our first date,” she said. “While I was super nervous on the way to the restaurant, all of my fears and anxieties were dispelled after a few moments of meeting in person.”
Liv's first-date nervousness was washed away moments after seeing Paul
While the couple shared a lot in common, one important element stood out to Liv.
“What struck me most about Paul was his unwavering dedication to his faith,” she told CatholicMatch.
The couple did more than just go to Mass. They each sought to make Catholicism the driving force of their everyday life.
It was a bond that served them well when Liv had to move an hour away. For couples who been in long-distance relationships, an hour’s drive is nothing, but it’s different when the dynamics of the relationship have been built on being able to easily see each other.
Liv said the little extra effort she and Paul had to put in brought them closer together.
The three F’s—faith, family and friends were woven through Paul and Liv’s growing love for each other. Their friends were happy that they found each other, and even happier that it was through a Catholic dating website.
Paul proposed to Liv. Amidst the tears, she said yes.
