Diane was not interested in an online romance since her two previous marriages hadn’t worked out. The 57-year-old convert from British Columbia was blessed with six children, but after 13 years since her last marriage, Diane wasn’t so sure about romance.
“I had made two unwise choices,” Diane said, “and was not prepared to trust myself again, so I left it in the Lord’s hands and He didn’t seem to be in a hurry to do anything about it.”
It turned out the Lord had more plans for Diane that she might have thought. She felt an inner prompting from the Holy Spirit to join CatholicMatch since members are able to answer questions about Catholic faith and morality. “This was extremely important to me, because I wanted to weed out any men who weren’t devout.”
Joe & Diane blended their 10 combined children into one new family.
A search of profiles led to Joe, who was the same age and also living in British Columbia. Diane reached out to him with an emotigram: “Ladies, don’t be shy!” (Diane's encouragement to other CatholicMatch members.)
That emotigram triggered a two-week message exchange, and after one month they met for a first coffee date.
Joe brought Diane a big bouquet of flowers because he understood the grace that comes through suffering. He too, had been married twice. His first wife passed away over 20 years ago, and a second marriage ended in annulment. Joe was also blessed with four kids.
Twenty months after their first coffee date, Joe and Diane were married in the Catholic Church. Their lives have been abundant in both grace and suffering, and now they can share their lives together.
Joe & Diane both went through a lot to get to this moment together.
