A long time ago, in a far away land, we were two lost souls adrift in this world, seemingly without direction, unknowingly destined for each other.
I (Colleen) was very unsure about joining a website like Catholic Match, but decided to on January 1, 2008. Even after signing up and chatting with a few people, I was still not sure about actually talking on the phone or meeting in person. Things went on like this for a few months. Then in May, I decided that it was time to take the chance and finally meet someone in person. I met a few people with disappointing results. Then I received a message from Jonathan and decided to reply.
Jonathan was recovering from yet another disappointing relationship, and despite trying to find success on other dating websites nothing worked. He joined Catholic Match at the urging of his mother who read about it in the church bulletin. Immediately, he was matched with a list of women in his area. I was one of them. He attempted to contact me early on, but was ignored for reasons unknown to either of us. He met several of the other women he was matched with and while they seemed better than previous encounters, something was still missing. Several months after his first email to me, he tried again and this time it worked.
We chatted for several consecutive days via the CM chat windows. A week later we met and talked, discovering that we had a lot in common. It was a wonderful evening, soon to be followed by many more, because we live less than 7 miles away from each other. Things went downhill from there, as we biked down a mountain and rafted down a river in July. Our relationship grew as we continued to see each other and started attending weekly Mass together.
We are still together and going strong. For Spring Break 2009, we traveled to Disney World for an amazing week. On the last night we were there, before a fantastic dinner at a wonderful restaurant, Jonathan proposed and I said, "Yes!" without hesitation. We are now planning a wedding that will be held during the summer of 2010.
Thank you Catholic Match for providing a medium through which God enacted his awesome plan to bring us together.
