Chris had the sweetest proposal planned for Christy at their future home.
On the day of its closing, he asked her to meet him at their new home.
Knowing they would spend the rest of their lives together, Chris and Christy kept on kept on eye on the housing market just for the fun of it. The couple happened to stumble across a great starter home, and they didn't want to pass on the opportunity. Because purchasing a home drains finances, Chris delayed buying a ring and proposing until the day of their home's closing.

On October 13, 2018, Christy walked into their new abode to find music playing and rose petals starting at the door and leading into the house. “He had fairy lights (my favorite) hanging, a table with treats and champagne, and he was standing there waiting for me,” she recalls.
“I wanted to make the proposal intimate, which is why I did it in our future home,” Chris explains.
“He told me how much he loved me and that he couldn’t imagine spending his life with anyone else. I said yes, and we kissed! It was beautiful and intimate,” Christy recalls.
Now Christy had an engagement ring and a new home, which she moved into— after renovations—in January of 2019. Chris moved in after their wedding in March of 2019.
CatholicMatch made looking for someone easy!

Chris, 25, and Christy, 25, have one of those stories where all of the pieces fell together easily—and CatholicMatch helped make that happen. Chris joined the site after returning home to California from Kansas, where he had attended Benedictine College. He wanted to continue to meet people with similar beliefs, and as an introvert, it felt difficult for him to meet people without a little help.
“I always figured I would meet someone online,” he shares.
Christy explains that after a failed relationship, she realized that she needed someone that would value the Catholic faith. However, she didn't know how she might meet someone like that. She noticed a CatholicMatch ad in her church bulletin.
“When I saw the ad for a Catholic dating site, I thought, 'That's a great way to meet someone!'"
Looking through the profiles, Chris saw Christy’s cute face and noticed that they had similar interests, so he sent her a message. When Christy received Chris's message, she felt intrigued by his profile, but it was really the beard that got her. She also appreciated that Chris played the piano, so she felt interested in getting to know him better.
They sealed the deal!
On their first date, Chris and Christy met at a tea shop and talked for over an hour before going on hike followed by dinner. Christy described the date as “one of the best dates” ever. In contrast, Chris calls their first date “nerve wracking.” That is until he found out something about Christy that set him at ease: he learned that they shared the same birthday. Chris instantly felt a deeper connection to Christy that put him at ease.
“Once we found out we had the same birthday, that all went away. I loved talking to her. The location was great, I liked what we did, and I loved getting to know her better. It was so easy to talk to her,” Chris recalls.
Christy adds, “Having the same birthday was pretty much a deal sealer for me.”

They are perfect for each other.
Six months after meeting on CatholicMatch, the couple became engaged without too much drama.
They both feel that God played a part in their relationship.
“I think we were incredibly fortunate in that we really didn’t have any challenges in our relationship. I think God led us to each other and for lack of other words, we were really perfect for each other,” she shares.
Chris adds, “I feel like challenges appeared but because of the way we talked about them and approached them, we were able to nip it in the bud before anything became a big issue."

A beautiful wedding!
After a six-month engagement, on March 23, 2019, Chris and Christy were married at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church.
Chris says he liked every decision they made with the Mass and the reception hall and he enjoyed sharing the experience with their families.
Recalling the reception, he adds, “I remember them playing “our song” Clair De Lune before the Mass, which felt special since I proposed while this song played in the background.
Christy says, “Seeing him as I walked down the aisle was wonderful. I also enjoyed keeping our tradition of “firsts” by having our first meal as husband and wife be a quesadilla, and slow dancing to Faithfully at the end of the night.”

Now, a growing family...
On August 10, 2020, Christy gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. She says she can’t get enough of seeing Chris be a dad. “It makes me fall more in love with him every day.”
Chris closes, “Having a baby has increased my love for Christy and confirmed how much I love her.”
