Fr. Juan Macias Marquez grew up in Midland, Texas where his family attended San Miguel Archangel Catholic Church. He pursued collegiate studies at the University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering.
His junior year he met the Dominican Friars through the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) while on retreats and mission trips.
