Both from Ontario, Canada, and deeply rooted in their Catholic upbringing, Jacob and Laura embarked on a journey to find love on CatholicMatch. Their story is a beautiful portrayal of how prioritizing faith can lead to a lasting and fulfilling relationship, as well as the joys and challenges of blending families.
Jacob and Laura's experiences with online dating before CatholicMatch were disheartening, as they struggled to find individuals with strong faith and shared moral values.
However, God had a different plan for them.
In the summer of 2022, they both joined CatholicMatch independently, determined to find a partner who shared a similar devotion to the Catholic faith.

Their online interaction was swift, and within days of actively using the app, Jacob took the initiative and sent Laura the first message. Their close proximity to each other added an extra spark, and they quickly realized they were indeed a match made in heaven.
After chatting for just three days, Jacob and Laura decided to meet in person.
Their first date took them to Laura's family home in the serene countryside. Though the initial encounter was amidst a gathering of Laura's extended family, they felt an instant connection as they drove around the area, sharing stories of their childhoods.
“We were able to have fun and conversation flowed so naturally,” Laura said.

What further solidified their bond was the alignment of their beliefs and values. They agreed on social issues, Catholic teachings, and even their political outlooks. Within just two months of dating, Jacob and Laura realized they had found their soulmates, and talks of engagement ensued. The decision came effortlessly to them, as they both felt an unshakeable certainty that they were meant to be together. “As cheesy as it sounds, when you know you know,” said Jacob.
In December, Jacob made the decision to propose to Laura on his family’s property.
He took Laura on a stroll to a nearby creek where they previously shared meaningful memories together. Jacob's thoughtful and heartwarming proposal with a heat-activated coffee mug featuring the message “Will you marry me?” cemented their commitment to each other.

On July 22, 2023, surrounded by their loved ones, Jacob and Laura tied the knot at Saint Michael's Catholic Church in Douglas, Ontario. The ceremony was deeply spiritual, with a touching Consecration to Mary during the ceremony, symbolizing their devotion to each other and their shared faith.
The Consecration was especially important to the couple due to Jacob’s devotion to Mary, whom he credits with his rediscovery of faith after high school. “Without the Rosary and without Mary, I would not be where I am today,” Jacob said, and the Consecration to Mary during the ceremony allowed for him and Laura to have a special moment alone with each other and the Blessed Mother.

As they enter married life, Jacob and Laura are excited about starting a family, and spending more time with each other now that they are living together.
Laura already had a young son named Luke, and Jacob is embracing the role of being a stepfather wholeheartedly. He said that becoming a father through his relationship with Laura has been a dream come true. For Jacob, it's also a journey of love and self-discovery, as he learns to navigate the joys and responsibilities of being a father figure to Luke. He has taken up a special devotion to Saint Joseph, as well, as he embarks on his journey to fatherhood.
Laura expressed her happiness in witnessing her son, Luke, form a deep bond with Jacob.

Becoming a family required a lot of self-sacrifice from both of them, but Jacob's connection with Luke has been heartwarming.
Luke looks up to Jacob and wants to emulate him, and Laura finds immense joy in seeing her son have a loving father figure in his life. “It is such a huge, incredible blessing and something that so many people have been praying for,” she remarked.
The couple's shared faith has been instrumental in helping them navigate the challenges of blending their families.

As they embark on their journey as husband and wife, Jacob and Laura continue to practice their devotion together daily. They pray together as a family before bedtime, attend Mass and Confession every week, and rely on their faith to provide strength and guidance as they face the joys and trials of family life.
Jacob and Laura's love story is a shining example of how prioritizing faith can lead to a deeply fulfilling and loving relationship.
Through CatholicMatch, they found each other and discovered that their shared devotion to Catholic teachings was the key to their lasting bond.
